Nightmare Are Made Of This
The Beginning of the End
In May 2015, I concluded my studies at Nanyang Technological University with a Graduation Show at the School of Art, Design and Media. My Final Year Project (FYP) focuses on attempting to dissuade the practice of telling scary lies to children to correct their misbehaviour as it brings about a warped sense of decorum.
As most perpetrators aren't aware of the effects of their lies, the solution was then to show the imagery that accompany their words. The installation piece
was titled "A Child's Worst Nightmare", featuring a giant book with illustrations depicting 10 common lies told, and three light boxes with intentionally alien dreamscapes for a sinister atmosphere.

The Journey of the Giant Book
Following the Graduation Showcase, the project was selected for an exhibition at Art Science Museum along with a handful of other graduates for the Sunday Showcase. Subsequently, I downsized the book and self-published 500 copies for sale. The giant book was on display at bookstores such as Woods in the Books and My Imaginarium Kingdom.
In October 2017, the giant book was featured in a month long exhibition at Orchard Library. A workshop was conducted as well. It guides both friends and strangers to share and create the imagery of scary lies they've encountered.
